Several Injured as Turbulence Strikes A Delta Airlines Flight Landing at Sydney, Australia

Multiple passengers and crew sustained injuries when a Delta Airlines flight originating in Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia experienced turbulence this past Friday.

The flight, numbered 41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it made its approach and landed at the Sydney airport, an airline spokesperson stated. Four flight attendants sustained injuries.

The New South Wales Ambulance Service said they evaluated a total of five people, and transported three of them to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that such as spinal discomfort and migraines. Those affected were between their thirties and seventies.

It is the most recent case of commercial jets being hit by turbulence, with aviation specialists indicating that global warming is a significant contributor.

On board were nearly 250 travelers and a crew of 15 on the aircraft, the Delta spokesperson added, clarifying that the plane landed "without further incident" at the airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on Friday morning.

Paramedics reported they were alerted just three minutes before the plane arrived, and emergency vehicles were waiting on the tarmac.
